Whoa!! More layoffs coming…G.M. cutting 10,000

Just announced in the NY Times that G.M. will be cutting 10,000 salaried positions plus cut the salaries of others up to 10%.
Layoffs are everywhere and more keep haunting us everyday. What can a person do who is in the midst of this terrible ’storm’? How can one prepare to face these difficult job search times?
Preparing is key and one of the first things that you need is a good, strong network to keep things moving forward. It is amazing how many clients that I talk to that do not have a LinkedIn profile. This fabulous site with more than 25 million users connected is an essential networking tool in today’s job search marketplace. If you are not on there yet then do one thing for yourself today - signup for a LinkedIn account. If you don’t know to proceed from there then take their easy tutorial that walks you through building your professional profile, or grab Jason Alba’s book - “I’m on LinkedIn Now What?” and get the answers to your questions.
Next, you have got to be “resume-ready” whether you believe your position will be impacted or not. It is just not responsible in this job climate not to have an updated, well prepared resume ready to use at a moments notice. So, get it ready now.
