Twitter Topping the List for Job Search

Amazing…who would have thought that a site focused on one question “what are you doing”, that only allows you 140 characters to answer the question would turn into such a sensation? Not only that, but would also turn in to the latest way to conduct your job search? Well, Twitter has managed to grow its little self into one huge ‘140 character’ machine, and is now the the next trick in job search techniques.

As Jennifer Loud remarks in her Twitter for Job Search article:

“My best advice in searching for a job in a recession is to get on Twitter. You approach a job search on twitter as you would any other. Research and networking are the key to success.”

Darren Rowse shares in his article that “Statistics show that job search networking is much more effective when you make “loose” connections - touching base with people beyond your immediate circle whose networks and contacts are much different from your own. With over 3 million users, Twitter offers an unparalleled opportunity to create an extended network.”

So, stop waiting for a special invitation…head over to Twitter, start your account and get your tweets going.  Google ‘twitter for job search’ and read articles and blogs on how to best position yourself, who to connect with and how to use twitter professionally for your search.  You’ll soon find the ‘addictive’ little twitter machine to be as much fun as it is a useful networking tool at your fingertips.
