Interview Preparation: How to land your dream job
16th April, 2009 - Posted by Robin Ogden -
If you’re heading into an interview it means your resume did its big job (unless you networked your way in without one). And now it’s your turn…are you prepared?
Never think that you can just wing a job interview, preparation is the most important thing you can do to set yourself apart from your competition.
In a recent post by Craig Fisher on RecruitingBlogs.com he shares the story of Karla Porter and how she landed her dream job. And it wasn’t by ‘flying by the seat of her pants’, which so many people decided to do when it comes to the interview process. They just think “hmmm, I’ll just head in, answer their questions - whatever they may be - and see how they like me….”wrong”!
Read Karla’s tips here, such as preparing in advance and setting up a strategy for the interview, walking in the door prepared with samples of her work, asking questions that engaged the interviewers and set her up to describe her accomplishments, following up immediately after the interview…and more.
Well worth the read and well worth incorporating into your interview skills.
