How Many Job Search Boards do You Use?

There are hundreds of job search boards on the Internet. The vast majority of those are not very helpful at best and a waste of time at worst. You could easily spend all of your time searching for job search boards and posting your resume. This would not be time well spent. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, you should use several job boards in your search. How many you decide to use is a personal choice, but the saying “less is more” certainly applies here. I’ve covered more than 80 job boards on this site, not with the expectation that everyone is using every job board, but to provide some basic helpful information which will allow readers to make choices. With that out of the way, a few more job board reviews follows below.
“The #1 Source for Hourly Employment” is the tag line for this site. I’ve not really focused on hourly jobs in my posts and this is certainly a very large part of the job market. Similar to most job boards, you can register on this site, creating a profile and making your information available to potential employers. The main page leads with a basic search by zip code and a fast way to set up a job agent (also by zip code). There is a listing of “Spotlight” employers, followed by a list of “Now hiring nationwide” employers. There are related articles and a regional search section at the bottom of the main page. This site is certainly worth a look if you are seeing part time work. As an example, there were more than 1,500 part time jobs listed in mid-town NY when I checked the site.
This site focuses on diversity jobs. The main page has tabs at the top based on your group (village is the term used on this site). There are tabs for African-American Village, Asian-American Village, Hispanic-American Village, Native-American Village, Women’s Village and Minority-Global Village. Each tab links to a site dedicated to diversity “village”. The main page also offers links to Search Jobs, Post Resumes, Employer Profiles and much more. Hundreds of job opportunities are listed on this site.
“Stand out in a crowd” is the tag line for this job board. The main page has tabs at the top for Job Search, Company Profiles (a nice touch here), Career Resources and an FAQ. There is a simple job search function on the main page with links to Advanced Search and Job Browse. You can post your resume on this site so that it can be searched by employers. The bottom of the page has a browse by jobs by State function and by job function category (to the right of the State search). A simple search across all fields returned over 1,800 jobs when I checked.
“The first place to look for veteran jobs”, this site is in a partnership with Monster.com The main page has a simple interface with an advanced “Veteran Job Search” function on the left and a range of services (like Spouse Resources, Transitioning Resources and more). You must confirm that you are a Veteran to use the site. The site headline indicates that there are more than 100,000 jobs listed here.
Good luck with your search.
